CSR (JANUARY – JUNE 2025)

Activity: Business incorporation and compliance support for local entrepreneurs.

Coordinated by: Ms. Happy Said, Adv. and Ms. Neema Masunga, Adv.

Period: January – June, 2025

Introduction

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), for the first and second quarters of this year, QnB Law aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs in Tanzania. This program focused on providing free legal services in business registration and compliance. While our legal services were offered pro bono, beneficiaries were required to cover applicable government fees.

Scope of the Program

The program covered the registration of business entities with the Business Registration and Licensing Authority (BRELA), Tanzania Revenue Authority, and Business Licensing Authority. The program was designed to assist two entrepreneurs in complying with regulatory requirements for establishing and running a legal business in Tanzania.

Objectives of the Program

The primary objective was to support local entrepreneurs who are either uncertain about how to incorporate their businesses or unable to afford professional legal services. Specifically, the goal was to assist in identifying appropriate legal entity structures, to offer guidance and facilitate business registration and compliance.

Time frame

The program officially began in April 2025 and was scheduled to be conclude by the end of June 2025.

Activities Conducted

  • Advertisement and Application Review

In April 2025, we launched the program through a public call for applications through our official social media platforms. We invited interested entrepreneurs to submit applications to benefit from the program. After reviewing the submissions, two applicants (to remain anonymous) were selected as beneficiaries. They intended to establish a group of companies.

  • Physical Meeting

A physical consultation meeting with the selected beneficiaries was held on 15th May 2025 at QnB Law. During this session, our team provided detailed guidance on the various business legal structures available in Tanzania and the compliance obligations involved. Following this consultation, the beneficiaries confirmed to proceed with company registration as their preferred business legal structure.

  •  Company Registration

QnB Law successfully facilitated the registration of two companies with BRELA. However, for reasons beyond the Firm’s control, the program’s goal was only achieved partially as the registration of such companies was only completed at the BRELA level.

Conclusion

Despite the setbacks encountered, QnB Law considers this CSR program to have had a positive impact. We successfully guided two aspiring entrepreneurs through the critical first steps of formalizing their businesses and we remain committed to supporting local business development. Our dedicated team remains grateful and looks forward to doing this again.
