CSR (JUNE 2024)

Activity: Pro bono – Business Incorporation and Compliance for Local Entrepreneurs in Tanzania.

Coordinated by: Neema Masunga, (Legal Officer)

Introduction

For this quarter’s CSR activity, QnB Law decided to give back to the community by offering business registration services to local entrepreneurs at no cost; however, the government fees were to be covered by the entrepreneurs themselves.

The program included the initial consultation, registration of business activities with the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA), application for a Tax Identification Number (TIN) Certificate, Tax Clearance Certificate, and application for a Business License.

Objective of the Program

The primary objective of this program was to support entrepreneurs who wished to incorporate their businesses but were unsure of where to start or which type of legal entity would be most suitable for their activities; and most importantly, did not have the financial means to afford legal services.

Activities Conducted

  • Advertisement of the Program and Receiving of the Applications.

On July 6, 2024, we advertised this program through our social media accounts. Interested entrepreneurs submitted their applications, and after reviewing them, we selected one beneficiary, Mr. Adam Luambano, who runs a furniture business. The Firm notified him and scheduled a physical meeting.

  • Initial Consultation

On July 19, 2024, the Firm offered the first consultation to Mr. Adam at our offices. During the meeting, we explained the various business structures and their operations in Tanzania. Mr. Adam decided to proceed with the registration of a company (LLC).

  • Registration Process

Following this, the QnB Law team handled the company registration with BRELA; applied for a TIN Certificate and Tax Clearance Certificate to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA); and applied for a business license from the Licensing Authority.

Handover

After successfully completing the company registration, obtaining the TIN Certificate, and securing the Business License, the Firm handed over a complete Company File to Mr. Adam on August 23rd, 2024.

Both the Firm and Mr. Adam were grateful and happy for this successful CSR activity. Kindly watch the video linked down below on our YouTube Chanel to see a few recorded scenes of this activity.
